It's May, OMG... 21 days till the start of Memorial Weekend

Yes, it is May and the temperature is expected to be 70 next week... a sign of good weather ahead??  Last weekend was the first Tea Dance of the season -- thank you to all that came out despite the 50 degree tempts and enjoyed the outside deck!  DJ Doug was spinning and bartender worked the outside decks.. proving rain or shine, hot or cold the Dunes is READY TO SERVE!!


The pool has the cover off and I'm hoping that the area is ready for sunning by the weekend of May 16th.. wish is our "Save A Horse, Enjoy a Hoedown!  Weekend.. think Country, Dunes style.  We have a lot excitement generating from IGRA (Illinois Gay Rodeo Association), MIGRA (Michigan Gay Rodeo Association), SCCDA (Second City Country Dance Association, WCC (Windy City Cowboys) and The Grand River Renegades.

 

The weekend starts with a meet and greet on Friday with Line Dance and Two steps class and Cowboy DJ Eric.. Saturday AM we have a breakfast with a lunch cookout and more line dancing and rodeo games.. then in the PM a Spaghetti dinner.. a special performance by the Windy City Cowboys and a country drag show in the Cabaret.. with Cowboy DJ Eric in the main bar.. Sunday features another breakfast and a cookout with Country Tea!  It's a full weekend of COUNTRY!


May 8 - 10 is our Spring Fling Weekend with DJ Doug and the Men of Manwatch (Saturday).

Summer means Karaoke every Thursday Night and a DJ Every Friday and Saturday -- with a Tea Dance every Sunday!

And then can you believe MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND:

 

Greg T and Richard B will be jointly celebrating their birthday on Thursday May 21 with Stripper-o-eky... yes that means Men of Manwach and Karaoke!!

Friday is Men of Manwatch, DJ Doug and Hannaniah Whitley in the Cabaret.

Saturday is the Opening day of the pool with DJ Doug:


Saturday Night we welcome DJ Tristan Jaxxx in the main bar with Kelly & Rick in the Cabaret, Sunday is the big Tea.. with DJ Doug starting it off 4-7p and welcoming back DJ GRIND 7-10p on the deck and then inside till 2a (he totally rocked the house last year over Labor Day, so EXCITED to have him back!!!)  Amy and Freddy are in the Cabaret at 10:30p.  The weekend isn't over till Monday night, we have the weekend's final tea on Monday 4-9p with DJ BearMan!  Can't wait to Officially Kick Off Summer with our Memorial Day Weekend Celebration!

October 31st.  I left for Florida on Wednesday and Lucky and I drove to Dalton, GA.. got up Thursday and he and I made it to Lauderdale around 9pm last night.  Car wash, grocery and liquor store and now I'm hiding in the back of our tiny house here in Victory Park trying to avoid  notice for any trick or treater, how sad is that? It's officially Fall at the Dunes.  Euchre and Pot Luck on Thursday, Karaoke on Friday, Music Videos on Saturday and Bingo on Sunday.  Monday we go to "winter" hours.. Mon - Thurs 2-10p, F&S 9a-2a and Sunday 9a-10p.  Can't believe how quick April - October went.  It's a reminder how quick life goes by - as I sit in the dark and hide in the back room (should rethink that, right?).  We really should get up everyday and do as much as we can before we go back to bed in the PM..  one day your 30 and then all of sudden your almost 50.. and I'm thinking that maybe I spent too many nights staying in and readying books. Christmas In July

Over the weekend at The Dunes Resort , we celebrated Christmas in July, one of our most anticipated weekends of the year.  Christmas in July 2017 was our best ever.  This festive weekend brings a devout group of regulars, as well as many first time guests.    The Dunes Resort Pool We at The Dunes have been lucky to see the same faces over the course of decades.  We hear time and time again from guests’ visiting Saugatuck-Douglas that their best experiences come from meeting new people from all over the country . The weekend kicked off on  Friday with acclaimed resident DJ, Doug Roberts , as he lit up the dance floor and world class cabaret performers,  Kelly and Rick , bringing down the house in the cabaret.  The Dunes provides a powerhouse of talent, and this weekend they delivered one hell of a show after another. Technology is crazy!  I bought one of those Jawbone UP bracelets.  And then it syncs with an app called My Fitness Pal.  You leave the UP bracelet on all day (except in the shower) and it keeps track of your movements as well as your sleep patterns.  The goal is 10,000 steps a day and it keeps track and texts you when you've sat too long, or you are really moving - constantly giving you up dates.  The Fitness Pal app lets you scan bar codes of food, or manually enter.  You pre-program if you want to loose, gain or maintain weight... it tells you how many calories you need.  If you enter everything you consume in the day, along with how much activity your getting on UP.. it tells you how you did for the day.  It also monitors your sleeping. You tell it you are going to bed, it records how long it took you to fall asleep, how long you are in deep sleep, how long you are in light sleep, how many times you woke up.  You tell it when you are awake and getting out of bed.  Technology is
